This is a painting I did of my niece’s beloved horse Finnigan, for her birthday. I have always painted in either oils, airbrush, or watercolor, never acrylics. I had to mash the paints around a bit to get my technique down, but in the end I was satisfied with the result.
A well proportioned under drawing is vital to painting a likeness.
Happy with the results of my initial lighting pass. Now for some details.
Details, texture and drama added. Now I need to make a frame.
The reveal :)
This piece was a lot of fun. Me and another dad worked with my daughters kindergarten class to create this shadow box style painting of Seattle for the bi-annual school auction. The kids each painted a building and then drew elements that I could use as stencils to airbrush texture on the piece.
